Pink Party
Friday 9th October - 7.30pm 7.30 - 10.30pm Arnside WI Hall
Selina and Barbara's husbands designed a fabulous pink themed quiz, which was harder than they said it would be! The pink raffle was great, such lovely prizes had been donated by the shops in Arnside, class participants, Asda and Tescos! The Pampered Chef Cooking
demonstrations were interesting, the mushrooms cooked tasted wonderful and a few orders were made with 10% going to Breast Cancer Care. Thanks to a few lovely ladies pink iced cakes and even pink salmon was available to nibble, or take home for a donation. We had soft pink refreshments, coffee/teas and a few ladies brought their own wine!
We all glammed up & wore our favourite pink outfits!

Wear it Pink Week!
I wore pink in all classes during the week 20th to 24th October and I was joined by many others. Those without pink clothes or donations for the box were offered a dare to do instead, but there weren't many takers!
On Wednesday 15th October some of the children and staff at Joey's Nursery in Milnthorpe dressed in pink for the day and did pink themed activities like icing biscuits with pink icing. They also had a collection box, amounts to follow! My little boy Reuben enjoyed wearing a T-shirt that I had written the word 'pink' on loads of times, in pink pen of course! He also had pink horns and a pink handbag!
Wear it Pink Meal
On Thursday 23rd October a group of 19 of us went for a celebratory 'Pink Your Party' meal at The Strickland Arms, Sizergh. It was the end of our Breast Cancer Campaign pink fund raising events and a chance to put on a dress, sparkly top or shirt/tie (pink of course, but not compulsory!) and have a lovely meal and share a laugh or two!
We passed around the table a collection box to raise some money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and left it on the bar until the end of the evening. Final amounts collected to follow.
We had a great time, the food was wonderfully presented and tasted great, the company was lovely and we had a few giggles over a pink themed quiz, won by Fiona Adam's team!

I really enjoyed myself with the 13 class participants (some from each of most of my classes) and a lovely friend of a friend, we had a good time together, the food was great and everyone said that they had thoroughly enjoyed themselves. If you couldn't make it for this meal then hopefully you will be able to next time!
RACE FOR LIFE
Sunday 1st June 2008
We joined approximately 1400 women for the Race For Life at the Westmorland Show ground to walk, jog or run 5k in the UK's largest women-only fund raising event.
It was great to see so many women and girls there enjoying themselves whilst exercising and raising money for Cancer Research.

Saturday December 15th 2007

Women of all ages and fitness levels wore something pink and joined in the class, along with one brave man and two 10 year old children including my son
The aerobathon included dance, salsa and bollywood style aerobic routines and finished with gentle Pilates based stretches. Pink refreshments were offered and a pink-themed raffle held to increase the collection.
I would really like to thank all the participants for their energy and great pink outfits, thanks to everyone who made pink cakes and scones and to Sue and Clive Pollard for all their help.
I intend to hold an annual charity aerobathon so keep fit in 2008 and join in the fun next autumn!

Levens Big Bike Ride
We took part in the 'Big Bike Ride' on 01/07/2007 at 1.00pm, to raise money for NSPCC.
Fitness Dynamics and Levens Toddler Group organised and took part in a 'Big Bike Ride' of approximately 5 1/2 miles around the Lords Plain, Levens, a shorter route of approximately 2 1/2 miles was offered but know one took the easy route! A longer and a shorter route were both offered to enable all ages and fitness levels to participate. We started in the Levens Primary School Playground and ending with refreshments and a raffle at the Levens Playing Fields Pavilion.
The event went well even though it poured with rain and towards the end of the route thunder and lightening excited the little ones! Along with sponsorship for participating in the bike ride, a raffle and guess the name of the teddy we managed to raise the overall wonderful sum of £333.45, not bad for about 30 children and adults in the rain!
Thank you to everyone who took part, those who sponsored us and to the ladies from the WI who helped out on the day!
